ArcheAge Chronicles life skills and professions: what is announced

Hunting, gathering, farming, crafting, trading and housing are named; sailing is described in an interview. What that means before choosing a profession.

If you want to spend time making, growing or trading rather than only fighting, there is official support for that direction. What is missing is the detail needed to choose a profession for profit or progression. The published activity names are not a confirmed list of separate profession trees.

In short

Hunting, gathering, farming, crafting, trading and housing are named; sailing is described in an interview. What that means before choosing a profession.

01The activities named directly by the studio

The Steam description, checked on 5 September 2026, lists hunting, gathering, housing, farming and crafting as life-skills content. It also mentions learning recipes, trading with other players and defending trade routes. This establishes those activities at the level of an announcement, without defining resource yields or skill progression.

In the PlayStation Blog article of 24 September 2024, executive producer Yongjin Ham separately names farming, crafting and trading. He connects housing to dedicated zones and communities of players. The post supports these activities as part of the design; it does not supply a recipe book or a profession-selection menu.

02What each choice can currently tell you

Hunting and gathering are named activities, but the reviewed descriptions do not identify huntable species, harvesting tools or resource maps. Farming appears in more than one official communication, yet no crop catalogue, growth timetable or land requirement is given there. None of these sources supports a fastest-leveling route.

Crafting, trading and housing have broader system descriptions, so their dedicated pages are the useful next step. Treating them as three additional profession trees would add a rule the studio has not stated. A house, a trade mission and a crafted object can interact without sharing the same progression system.

03Sailing and solo trade: reported from the developers’ interview

Speaking to Wccftech on 1 August 2025, the development team included sailing among retained features, alongside trading, crafting and housing. It stressed that the mechanics and structures were being reworked. We treat those published interview answers as reported and attributed, rather than a statement published directly by the studio.

In the same interview, XLGAMES described regional trade missions undertaken alone or with others. That is useful for a player hoping to trade without organizing a large group. It does not establish unrestricted naval travel, shipbuilding professions, safe routes or the absence of risk.

04What remains unknown — checked 5 September 2026

Not yet established

There is no profession recommendation for maximum income that these sources can support. They give no complete profession tree, production costs, market prices, yield tables or profitability measurements. In particular, mechanics remembered from the first ArcheAge cannot fill those gaps.

Choose which activity you would like to test, rather than committing to a best profession on paper. Once access is available, the useful checks are what the activity unlocks, how materials are acquired and how much time the full production or trade cycle takes. Until then, the housing, crafting and trade guides distinguish the published design from the unanswered practical questions.
