ArcheAge Chronicles is announced — 24 September 2024
The announcement letter is short, and one paragraph of it explains most of the arguments the game has attracted since. It was published on Steam on the day of the reveal, signed by executive producer Yongjin Ham.

What was announced
The game was revealed as “the next chapter in the ArcheAge series”, an online action RPG “with a strong emphasis on intense, visceral combat”, promising “epic raids, rich party gameplay, and countless ways to engage with the vibrant world”.
The story was placed “fifty years after the original title, introducing new conflicts and characters with different goals and convictions”, in a seamless open world built around exploration and life skills.
We are proud to officially announce ArcheAge Chronicles, the next chapter in the ArcheAge series. … shifting away from large-scale competitive battles to smaller group activities and interactive adventures.

The line that set the direction
“In lieu of a direct sequel, we’ve prepared a fresh take on the ArcheAge universe by shifting away from large-scale competitive battles to smaller group activities and interactive adventures.” Everything the studio has confirmed since — the removal of territorial conquest, the two-to-five player dungeons, the intimate world — follows from that sentence.
What the window was, then
At announcement, the game was targeted at 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles. That window has since moved four times; the current one is Q4 2026.
