XLGAMES has introduced its factions the same way it introduced its bosses: one post at a time, on its official account, each with a short text. Ten have names. None has published a joining mechanic, a reputation system, or a PvP alignment.
Ten factions have been named by XLGAMES between October 2024 and July 2025 — four of them only once. Here is each one, with what the studio published about it and the date.
01Who runs Auroria
Two bodies are described as holding the settled part of the continent. The Settlers’ Council is “the highest administrative body of Auroria”, seated in Seaglass Harbor, which “serves as the capital city of the region” (16 January 2025). It is the only governing institution the studio has named.
The Bluesalt Brotherhood is the economic counterpart: “the powerhouse behind Auroria’s trade! From salt to saplings, they shape the region’s economy. Led by Livek, their mission is clear: control resources, dominate trade, and profit together” (12 February 2025). A week later the studio placed them “in Seaglass Harbor of Diamond Shores, engaging in the production and trade of agricultural and forestry products”, and explained that Livek is a title: each newly elected leader “give up their original name and take on the title Livek in honor of the Brotherhood’s first leader” (19 February 2025).
02Who explores, and who studies
The Shadowhawk Syndicate is “a mysterious organization leading exploration, hunting, and trade in Auroria. Known for their tight-knit brotherhood and hidden motives, they’re influential yet enigmatic” (28 May 2025). A later post ties them to the past: the Syndicate inherits “the name of a legendary group from the back alleys of Delphinad” (5 June 2025).
The Antiquary Society was introduced once, on 26 March 2025, and never mentioned again: “Unearthing the past to shape the future, the Antiquary Society is a unique blend of scholars and merchants working together to rediscover Auroria’s lost treasures and rebuild the legendary Delphinad Library.” It is the only faction the studio has described as scholarly, and the only one given an explicit long-term goal.

03The threats
The Dark Blades were “once deserters” and “now rule the shadows, pillaging, forging deadly alliances, and uniting Auroria’s underworld under one ruthless banner” (12 March 2025). They are the only faction with a published visual marker: a battle uniform that “isn’t merely clothing — it’s a mark of their internal order”, worn only by “those who possess the ability to command an entire unit” (19 March 2025).
The Cult of Eternity “preach of a flawless society free from all injustice, yet in truth, they are the most dangerous force plotting the return of Akasch” (9 April 2025). They worship “their god, Akasch, in the form of a giant serpent” (16 April 2025).
The Dobavion Dreadbreath Tribe holds Serpens’ Domain, “once a haven of the ancient city Mailgrove, now a desecrated ruin” (9 July 2025). They and the Cult both exalt the boss Celtak (30 April 2025), while High Priest Zudaka “looks down upon the foolish Dobavion and the humans of the Cult of Eternity” (30 July 2025) — the studio has therefore placed three named groups in conflict without describing what that conflict does in play.
The Nakisians are the oldest named group and the only one from outside the world: “Summoned across dimensions by the will of Queen Akasch, the Nakisians arrived — only to find this realm starved of Rancor, the very essence of their power. Unable to wield the powers they once commanded, they were forced into a deep slumber. But now, Rancor stirs again” (14 May 2025).
The latest creation bears a striking resemblance to the fearsome Nakisian from our trailer... could they be related?
These documentary notes remain in the language in which they were collected; they are not necessarily verbatim quotations.
04Named once, in someone else’s story
Two factions exist only inside a weapon’s lore, and have never been described in their own right.
The Repentant Shadows appear in the story of the Thorned Halberd: “During the 25-Year War, Axas, a soldier of the Repentant Shadows wielded the Thorned Halberd and single-handedly shattered the enemy’s stronghold” (12 December 2024).
The Pantheon appears the same way: a weapon “was used by Pantheon’s inquisitors to punish those who impersonate the Gods and commit blasphemy” (3 December 2024). Both are placed in the past, and neither has been shown as a present-day organisation.
05What has never been published
As of 31 August 2026, no post explains how a player relates to a faction. Nothing has been said about joining one, earning standing with one, choosing a side, or being locked out of another. No faction has been tied to a player’s starting choice or PvP alignment. Lore does associate groups with places, including the Dobavion Dreadbreath Tribe with Serpens’ Domain.
That absence is itself informative: in the first ArcheAge, factions were a structural choice made at character creation. Nothing published for ArcheAge Chronicles repeats that, and nothing rules it out either. This page will be re-checked against the game when it becomes playable.
