The first ArcheAge was free to play with a subscription and a cash shop, and it is the memory of that model that makes this question urgent. What is on the record for Chronicles is short, and half of it is reported rather than confirmed.
Not free to play: the Steam listing says so. A developer Q&A described a buy-to-play game with optional cosmetics. Nothing has been confirmed on price.
01What is confirmed
The Steam listing marks the game as not free — the store data read on 31 August 2026 carries is_free set to false. The PlayStation 5 concept page states “in-game purchases optional”. Those two facts are the whole of the confirmed record.
02What is reported
MMORPG.com, covering the first developer Q&A held on the official Discord in July 2026, reported a buy-to-play purchase with optional cosmetics and no pay-to-win. We attribute that to the outlet and the Q&A; XLGAMES has not published it as a statement of its own that we have read at the source.
No price has been announced on any storefront, in any currency, and no edition or pre-order structure has been shown.

03What to watch
Prices appear on store pages before a launch window becomes real, so Steam and the Epic listing are the places where this will change first. Any figure circulating before then is someone’s estimate, not an announcement.
